Never, ever give up … just be your best

Ever felt like the odds were stacked against you?

During such trying moments, there is the ‘natural’ tendency to want to give up. There is a lot of negative self talk and voices in your head telling you to give up, quit now, end it.

Well, if this describes what you are feeling right now, I encourage you to spend the next couple of minutes watching this video clip. (ps. doesn’t matter if you don’t speak French)

Well, well, well!!!! What do you think? I have watched this finish about 20 times.

Words that come to mind are Magnifique, Extraordinaire, Incroyable, Awesome!

The French runner’s name is Floria Guei and just to give you a little history, she was not considered top tier in this tournament … she had competed in the individual 400m race, barely got out of the heats and was eliminated in the semi-finals.

When she was passed the baton in the relay, she was in fourth place with seasoned runners ahead of her. Even the French commentators were resigned to defeat and were saying, “Mais ce n’est pas possible!”.

However, never say never … it was possible, she did it and is now the Champion of Europe.

WHAT HAPPENED?

She kept her eye on crossing the finish line and winning the race for self and country. She was focused, determined and did not look to her circumstances, but just run her race … and boy, did she run it well.

WELL, WHAT ABOUT YOU?

What race are you in? Have you been passed a crummy baton? Does it look like you are never going to win, because others are so far ahead.

Maybe you did not grow up with the right circumstances or life has dealt you a wrong set of cards and all you can see is failure around you.

Whatever it is, just realise that its not over till its over. Don’t throw you baton down and exit the race, but let your goal be to cross that finish line.

You know something, Floria, run her best time that day and I believe it was due to the adverse circumstances she faced. She dug deep and did it and you can do the same too. No matter what you are going through, look INward and look UP to God and He will ensure that you finish your race … in your best possible time.

Stay blessed or as my French friends will say it … Restez béni!

Why does man die?

Why does man die?

I think man dies because he no longer has access to life.

What does that mean? I glad you asked … read on.

There is a story in the book of Genesis which tells us that God planted a garden in the east, in Eden, and made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground … trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food.

In the middle of this garden was the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. God said, you may eat of every tree except the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Naturally, a lot of emphasis is placed on Adam sinning and eating the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

However, below is an often overlooked statement that is extremely important.

Adam could eat from the tree of life each day and by virtue of being able to do this everyday would have had eternal life.

When he sinned, the one thing God did was to deny him access to continued life and … that is why we die over time.

He could no longer tap into the source God created to sustain his body and its life here on earth.

The Bible says that God drove Adam and Eve out of the garden and ‘protected’ the tree from them.

It goes without saying, that without sin, Adam (and man) would have lived forever, because all he had to do was to eat daily from the Tree of Life.

God hates sin and did not want man to be an eternal creature in this sinful state. He therefore took the opportunity to be eternal away from man, until He provided a way for man to get out of his sin.

The new way to life is Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the Son of God and has eternal life … just like God. He came to earth to defeat sin and death and through that, we can now live (and not ‘die’) through Him.

This is how it works.

– Through Adam, we had sinned and could not find our way to God.
– Sins penalty was death and our sacrifices could not reverse this.
– God provided a way to Himself and let Christ die on the cross for our sins.
– Through His death, we were able to exchange our sins (and death) for His life.

This eternal life is spiritual (not physical) and can only be received by BELIEVING and accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour.

Not accepting Christ and changing your eternal ‘status’ means you will be spiritually dead, and not connected to God … for eternity.

Today, if you don’t know or believe in Him, ask Jesus to draw you to Him … we call it Salvation i.e. saving you from eternal death by being ‘born again’ into a new life.

Jesus is the way, the truth and everlasting life and the only way to get to God.

If you believe and do know him, remember … you are truly blessed indeed.

Praise His Holy Name, which is above all names.

Be blessed

Need some encouragement?

Music is good for the soul.

Here are a few songs that have blessed me over time … I hope they encourage and help move you to the next level too.

Overwhelmed?

Sometimes its easy to feel overwhelmed, but just remember … God is always there for you, and will never leave you nor forsake you

Afraid or Anxious?

If afraid, just remember that God is always with you. Don’t be shaken … be strong.

Feeling like a failure or loser?

No matter what you are going through … just remember, you are an overcomer.

Defeated or want to give up?

Never, never, never, give up. God will not give up on you. He is there to see you through.

P.U.S.H.

Last but certainly not the least … make sure you pray. Pray until something happens.

Listen and be blessed.

Feeling Lost or Need Direction?

Have you ever felt lost or alone and then thought, ‘what do I do next’?

Maybe you had well laid plans and now things seem to be falling apart. It could be that your career, health, relationships or financial situation has taken a turn for the worse. If this is you … read on.

The truth of the matter is, there are times when we ALL feel alone and somewhat insecure. It is called being human.

When things take a turn for the worse, it’s easy to question God, blame Him, lose faith and wonder how things will end up.

Whenever it looks like you cannot find God, it’s important to remember that:

– God is always there to guide us.
– He is God and can make a way where there seems to be no way.
– His silence does not mean He cannot help
– All we have to do is to be still and trust in Him.

The question is …

– can you still trust Him?
– can you seek Him even when you don’t feel His presence?
– are you willing to leave things in His hands, trusting that whatever He decides will be in your best interest?

Whatever you are going through right now, make sure you spend time with God. Don’t give up on Him. There is a way out and He can point you in the right direction.

If you are feeling lost or need direction, all you have to do is ask Him.

I love this song …. it was tailor made for those who need clarity and wish to do God’s will.

Listen … and be blessed.

Dry Seasons

The constant thing about seasons is that they always change.

Depending on where you live, you will experience either the Rainy and Dry season or Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall.

Our Christian walk also has seasons and there are times when we do not feel close to God. This can be magnified when we lose something important (e.g. job, money or a loved one). It’s like the goal posts shifted and God moved along with it. In times like this, the devil discourages and tries to stop you from praying to or praising God.

Dark times are when you need the light of God most and if you have difficulty praying, get into His presence with good worship music. If you are going through a dry spell, let this song minister to you.

Dry seasons are particularly tough because things do not easily flourish BUT they are also times of preparation, strengthening and refocusing.

All I can say is NEVER stop praising God. Open your mouth and He will fill it with goodness. Shout to God with a voice of triumph. Paul and Silas praised their way out of prison and you will break out of your ‘prison’ through praise.

Create an atmosphere of praise, in and around you, and He will meet you at your point of need.

Be blessed
